Dr. Marzena Podgórska, MD, PhD, prof. GAMNS

A graduate of the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology at the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk, she earned her PhD in medical sciences from the Medical University of Gdańsk. In 2006, she received a team award from the Minister of Health for a series of four publications, and between 2006 and 2009, she received three team awards from the Rector of the Medical University of Gdańsk for her research. In 2013-2014, she was a member of the Health Expert Team at the Social Affairs and Healthcare Committee of the Gdańsk City Council. In 2023, she received the Polish Diabetes Association Ambassador Badge for her outstanding work on behalf of the Polish Diabetes Association and people with diabetes. She is a professor at the Gdańsk Medical Academy of Applied Sciences. Since 2009, she has been an academic teacher teaching at the Gdańsk Academy of Applied Medical Sciences (formerly the Gdańsk University of Health). She has reviewed theses and scientific publications, served as a scientific editor for five monographs published by the Gdańsk University of Health, and has authored numerous lectures and talks for high school students and seniors, as well as articles and presentations in the field of health and medical sciences. For over 15 years, she has been actively involved in managing educational processes at the Gdańsk Academy of Applied Sciences (formerly the Gdańsk University of Health), serving as dean, vice-rector, and currently rector. From 2019 to 2022, she served as team leader for the project "Practically for Health – Development of Professional Competencies within Integrated Education Programs at the Gdańsk University of Health," no. POWR.03.05.00-00-ZR07/18-00. Currently, he serves as the substantive coordinator of the project entitled: "WSZ in Gdańsk – education for the needs of the economy," no. FERS.01.05-IP.08-0396, co-financed by the European Union under the European Funds for Social Development under the supervision of the National Centre for Research and Development in Warsaw. From June to December 2025, he was a member of the team for developing good practices and mechanisms for counteracting mobbing and supporting well-being and mental health prevention in the higher education and science system, established at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Member of the Team for Equality and Counteracting Undesirable Phenomena in the Academic Community, established at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

Marzena Podgórska, Prof. GAMNS, Rector of the Gdańsk Medical Academy of Applied Sciences, was awarded the "Leader of Intelligent Development 2026" Award. 👏 This unique distinction is a recognition of modern and responsible management of higher education, consistent development of innovative education models and active efforts to promote social development and health care.
As an academic community, we are extremely proud that the Rector's daily work, vision, and commitment have been recognized at such a prestigious forum.
