Psychodietetics

Psychodietetics A field that combines knowledge from dietetics and psychology. A psychodietitian helps individuals struggling with maintaining a healthy body weight, those suffering from eating disorders such as binge eating, bulimia, and anorexia, as well as those whose eating problems stem from psychological causes, such as depression, mania, or personality disorders.
Unlike a dietitian, a psychodietician is a person who also has knowledge in the field of psychopathology., which allows them to diagnose and work with patients suffering from eating disorders. A specialist in this field comprehensively assesses the causes of eating disorders, as well as diseases resulting from poor nutrition. They strive to treat the underlying causes and change the patient's attitude, and only then address appropriate eating habits.

The aim of the studies is to respond to social needs and, consequently, to deepen students' knowledge and skills in the field of psychology and dietetics. Throughout the course of study, we place particular emphasis on substantive content and practical skills. We strive to ensure they keep pace with the changing world and provide knowledge that will enable graduates to provide effective support and take appropriate action in their work with patients. During the course, we help students understand the various psychological factors that influence nutrition and relationships with food, teach them how to change eating habits and regain control over their eating, raise awareness of the illnesses that can result from eating disorders, and teach them how to address them.

By undertaking postgraduate studies in PSYCHODIETETICS you will gain knowledge in the field of:

  • clinical and emotional aspects of nutrition,
  • factors causing eating disorders,
  • ways and methods of combating unhealthy eating habits,
  • methods of working with a person in a psychodietitian's office.
