Geriatric care
The aim of postgraduate education is geriatric care The aim of this program is to deepen knowledge and skills in geriatrics, including assessment of the condition of elderly patients, particularly functional abilities and quality of life. This field of study was created in response to the changing age structure of society and the increased activity of older adults. Graduates of the postgraduate program in geriatric care will be prepared to collaborate with a therapeutic team and monitor the patient's condition during inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation.
During their studies, our students acquire the following skills:
- conducting proper physiotherapy and possible side effects of its conduct,
- recognizing indications and contraindications in the use of physiotherapeutic procedures, ,
- recognizing diseases and syndromes occurring in elderly people,
- identifying selected health problems,
- conducting examinations and functional tests for the selection of physiotherapy measures,
- formulating an opinion regarding the patient, observing confidentiality regarding the patient's health condition,
- compliance with the principles of cooperation applicable in the work of a multidisciplinary geriatric/rehabilitation team
- applying ethical principles and maintaining appropriate relationships with the patient and his family.
After completing their studies, our graduates will be able to work in the country and abroad in:
- long-term care facilities
- sanatoriums and health resorts
- nursing homes
- hospitals and private clinics
In postgraduate studies not only you deepen your knowledge but also you increase your chances of getting promoted or changing jobs.
We offer you studies in part-time mode, which last 2 semesters. Meetings are held every 2 weeks, and the number of hours of classes conducted by qualified staff is 212 teaching hours. Students receive a certificate of completion of postgraduate studies in geriatric care.
