The main goal of education in the field of psychology is to prepare professionally educated psychologists by providing comprehensive knowledge (basic and specialized) and developing practical skills and acquiring appropriate social competences at the level of uniform master's studies in accordance with the needs of the developing market economy and with a sense of responsibility of the University towards society.

The specific objectives are:

  1. The program provides comprehensive and interdisciplinary knowledge and skills in the social sciences (psychology as a scientific discipline), medical sciences, and health sciences, equipping students with professional knowledge and skills in psychology (including core areas of psychology and the student's chosen major). This theoretical knowledge will enable students to observe, understand, and explain human behavior, empirically verify hypotheses, and seek scientific information.
  2. It also provides a range of practical skills in the field of diagnosis, through the use of available psychological diagnostic tools and the construction of new ones, the analysis of obtained results, and the planning of psychological help, taking into account counselling and mental health prevention.
  3. Preparing graduates to work independently with sick people, providing a high level of care in accordance with the principles of professional ethics and applicable law, as well as providing services to healthy people in the field of health promotion and disease prevention.
  4. Enabling the acquisition of communication skills with both specialists in the fields of psychology, medical sciences and health sciences, as well as non-specialists, by adapting the language and using various communication techniques.
  5. Developing appropriate attitudes that take into account ethical standards and openness to cultural and social diversity, sensitivity to the individuality and needs of others, and building respect for the dignity of every human being. Furthermore, given the dynamic development of psychology as a scientific discipline, it is necessary to create the assumption and attitude of openness to lifelong learning and the acquisition of the ability to work independently and in a group.
