The Gdańsk Medical University of Applied Sciences (formerly the Gdańsk University of Management/Gdańsk University of Health) is a private university operating since 1999, offering undergraduate and graduate programs. Its mission is to professionally educate highly qualified professionals in line with the needs of the growing Polish economy and a uniting Europe. We aspire to create a university that, through high-quality services, fully satisfies our clients and employees:

provides students with material and intellectual conditions for development and training in qualifications that are aligned with market needs,
provides graduates with preparation and support to find a good job, and provides potential employers with valuable employees,
creates satisfactory working and development conditions for university employees and supports the implementation of scientific research,
serves the region's community through active participation in the development of the region, science and culture.

The role of internationalizing the educational process has been and remains embedded in the Development Strategy of the Gdańsk Medical Academy of Applied Sciences. Currently, the university is implementing this strategy in accordance with the first strategic goal, which refers to the delivery of high-quality courses. This goal is furthered by the sixth operational goal, which defines the internationalization of the educational process by leveraging models from foreign universities.

The aforementioned process is long-term, so the University's strategy must assume multi-directional activities based on existing and acquired experience, constantly monitored and adapted to the current conditions of the socio-economic environment represented by external stakeholders, while also taking into account the expectations and needs of the University's internal stakeholders.

The aim of international exchange for students and staff is:

a) expanding knowledge of various teaching systems/concepts;

b) increasing awareness of the international dimension of knowledge;

c) enabling access to experiences and resources other than those available at our university;

d) development of language competences;

e) motivation to develop resourcefulness, adaptability and self-confidence;

f) developing skills to work in a multicultural environment.

Quality equally concerns educational outcomes and the development of each student, improving the quality of the school's work and the educational process, and meeting national and international educational standards. In recent years, the university has actively engaged in international cooperation and exchange. This is a significant part of the university's activities, and its implementation requires the signing of bilateral agreements with foreign partners. With this in mind, the university strives to enhance its educational offerings by opening new fields of study and adding courses taught in English to the curriculum.

Since 2003, the University has actively participated in international exchange programs: Erasmus+ and its predecessors. In addition to its individual Erasmus+ agreement, the Gdańsk Medical University of Applied Sciences also belongs to a consortium (coordinated by Basic Economy Sp. z o. o.), enabling it to provide mobility funds to all interested students and staff.

As part of international cooperation with European universities, the Gdańsk Medical Academy of Applied Sciences has so far signed twelve bilateral agreements, which it wishes to continue to maintain.

As part of the project entitled "Practically for Health" – Development of Professional Competencies within Integrated Education Programs at the Gdańsk Medical University of Applied Sciences (co-financed by European Funds under contract no. POWR.03.05.00-00-ZR07/18-00), an English-language education program in the field of cosmetology was launched in the 2019/20 academic year. This initiative was met with great approval from employers and interest from participants, and therefore the University authorities are considering introducing this form of education in other fields.

The strategy of the Gdańsk Medical University of Applied Sciences focuses on the internationalization of the teaching process, including by leveraging models from foreign universities. This involves inviting visiting foreign research and teaching staff, as well as supporting the mobility of students and its own research and teaching staff.

The selection of partner universities is primarily verified through an analysis of the courses of study and curricula at the selected universities. This ensures full recognition of students' mobility periods. The Erasmus Office continuously analyzes emerging trends in higher education and adapts its strategy accordingly. In terms of international exchange, this translates into the verification of individual universities and monitoring changes in their curricula.

The Gdańsk Medical Academy of Applied Sciences operates an Internship Office and a Careers Office, which, in collaboration with the Erasmus Office, organize internships abroad for GAMNS students. The choice of institution where a student could complete an internship is based on the potential intern's responsibilities, which should be aligned with the student's field of study. Student recruitment for internships is based on an analysis of achieved results and language preparation, as well as additional criteria imposed by the host institution. A note confirming completion of the internship program is included in the supplement to the Gdańsk Medical Academy of Applied Sciences diploma.

The project aims to increase internationalization among students by enabling them to participate in mobility for studies and internships, and among staff to deliver lectures or participate in training. We intend to continue existing activities and collaboration with partners acquired between 2021 and 2027.

Considering the indicators achieved so far, our goal is to have at least 10 students, five teaching and research staff, and two administrative staff, mobile per year. Due to the practical nature of our education, we want to support student mobility abroad and maintain this mobility at a constant level. At the same time, we aim to encourage student mobility within our studies at a rate of at least one student per semester.

To this end, we want to strengthen existing partnerships with European universities and seek companies for ongoing collaboration within the internship program. Through the quality of the mobility opportunities we offer, we can encourage our students and staff to participate in the Erasmus+ Program.

In order to internationalize the curriculum and promote the program, we want to involve foreign entrepreneurs and lecturers from partner universities in the educational process on a larger scale by conducting classes and training.

Through international mobility we intend to achieve the following goals:

improve the quality of education
improve the competences of students and employees
draw from good role models
strengthen international cooperation with universities with a similar educational profile and with companies working in the industries in which GAMNS educates its students.

We wish to create an Academy, which will fully satisfy our students and staff through the high quality of our activities:

Graduates suitable preparation for and support in finding employment,
Potential employers have a guarantee of acquiring valuable employees,
Academy staff have satisfactory conditions of work and development as well as support in the implementation of scientific research,

The role of internationalization of the education process has been described in the Development Strategy of the Gdańsk Medical Academy of Applied Sciences. Currently, the Academy implements it in accordance with the first strategic goal which refers to conducting good quality classes. Its implementation is supported by the sixth operational goal, which defines the internationalization of the teaching process by using the standards of foreign universities.

This process is long-term, so the strategy of the Academy must establish long-term measures, based on the gained experience and held on a regular basis. These measures must be monitored and adjusted to the current conditions of the external and internal environment of the Academy.

The purpose of international exchange for students and employees is:

a) broadening knowledge about various teaching systems/concepts;

b) increasing awareness of the international dimension of knowledge;

c) enabling access to experience and resources other than those available at our university;

d) development of language competences;

e) motivation to develop resourcefulness, adaptability, and self-confidence;

f) developing the ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Quality concerns in equal – the educational results and development of each student, the raising of the quality of the work and education process of the Academy and meeting national and international standards of education. In recent years, the Academy has actively participated in international cooperation and student exchange. This is an essential element of the activities of the Academy, and it requires conclusion bilateral agreements with foreign partners. Having that in consideration, the Academy is trying to extend offer by opening new faculties and supplementing the study programs by the English lectures.

Since 2003, the Academy has been actively participating in international exchange programs: Erasmus + and its previous counterparts. The Gdańsk Medical Academy of Applied Sciences, apart from an individual agreement also belongs to the consortium (coordinated by Basic Economy), therefore we are able to provide funds for the mobility of all interested students and staffs.

As a part of the co-financed from European Funds project “Practically for health” – the development of professional competences as part of integrated education programs at the Gdańsk Medical Academy of Applied Sciences starting from the academic year 2019/2020. The Gdańsk Medical Academy of Applied Sciences launched The Cosmetology – Bachelor studies in English. This activity has been well received by employers and participants, therefore the Academy Authorities consider launching the English studies in other fields.

The strategy of Gdańsk Medical Academy of Applied Sciences focuses on the internationalization of the educational process, mainly through the use of patterns of foreign universities. This involves inviting foreign visiting academic staff, as well as support of mobility of our students and academic staff.

Selection of partner universities is verified mainly by analyzing the courses of study and training programs offered at potential partner school. It gives students full acceptance of their study period. International Relations Office keeps trying to analyze actual trends in higher education and the strategy of our Academy is being adapted to them constantly. Regards to international cooperation, this translates into the verification of individual universities and monitoring of changes in their program.

The Gdańsk Medical Academy of Applied Sciences has Practice and Personnel Consultation Department, which together with International Relations Office cooperate to organize student's practices. The choice of an institution, in which a student could take their practice is analyzed on the basis of the scope of obligations of a potential practice, which should be correlated with the field of studies. Recruitment of students for practice is carried out on the basis of an analysis of their results and language skills as well as additional criteria dictated by the accepting institution. An annotation on execution of the apprenticeship syllabus is enclosed in the supplement to the Gdańsk Medical Academy of Applied Sciences' graduation diploma.

The main objective of the project is to increase internationalization among students by offering them the possibility to study or do Internships in the countries of Program. Also, we would like to increase internationalization among employees by offering them the possibility to conduct lectures or participate in training. We want to continue the current tasks and cooperation with the partners acquired in 2021-2027.

Due to the practical profile of education in the Gdańsk Medical Academy of Applied Sciences, we want to support students' mobility for internships and keep it at a constant level.
