Conference "Comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation of burn patients yesterday, today and tomorrow""

On November 23, 2024, a unique conference was held, organized by the Rehabilitation Clinic of the UCK GUMed, the Plastic Surgery Clinic of the UCK GUMed and the Pomeranian Branch of the Polish Rehabilitation Society, entitled "Comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation of burn patients yesterday, today and tomorrow". 
The meeting brought together experts, specialists and practitioners in the field of medicine who shared their knowledge about the treatment and rehabilitation of people injured as a result of burns.

Lecturers from the University of Health in Gdańsk participated in the conference as speakers:
Dr. Wiesława Nyk, MD, who gave a lecture on:
„"Rehabilitation of Burns in the Fire at the Gdańsk Shipyard Auditorium – Program, Implementation, Results." The presentation focused on specific rehabilitation activities undertaken following the tragic fire and discussed the effectiveness of these activities and their impact on the recovery process of the injured.
Dr. Hanna Tomczak, MD, who raised the topic:
„"The Specific Characteristics of Juvenile Patients Injured in the Fire at the Gdańsk Shipyard Arena." She presented the challenges associated with the treatment and rehabilitation of younger patients who require a special approach, both medically and psychologically.

The conference was also attended by Dr. n. med. Marzena Podgórska, rector of the University of Health in Gdańsk, and also, among others, Tadeusz Jędrzejczyk, deputy director for supervision and health projects at the Municipal Office of the Polish Army, Monika Chabior, Deputy Mayor of Gdańsk for Social Development and Equal Treatment, Jerzy Karpiński, Director of the Health Department of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Office, and Prof. Dr. hab. Michał Markuszewski, Rector of the Medical University of Gdańsk.
The conference was an extremely valuable experience, enabling the exchange of knowledge and experiences in the treatment and rehabilitation of burn patients. The event also provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the future of medicine and the development of patient treatment methods.
