Icy sidewalks, unshoveled roads, and exceptionally cold winters are a time of increased accidents and injuries, to which the elderly are particularly vulnerable. Every trip can have serious health consequences. Therefore, prevention, knowledge, and a quick response in emergency situations are crucial.
The last meeting with members was devoted to these extremely important issues. Cultural and Educational Association "Active Senior"„ . The guest of the event was Mr. Daniel Zelewski, a paramedic at St. Adalbert's Hospital in Gdańsk (Copernicus Sp. z o. o.) and a lecturer at the University of Health in Gdańsk, who gave a lecture entitled "First aid in case of injuries - fractures, sprains and dislocations.".
🩸During the lecture, participants had the opportunity to learn how to recognize the most common injuries, how to correctly assess the situation, when to call for help and how to react to avoid worsening the injury.
It was a valuable lesson in caring for health, safety, and mutual responsibility. Such meetings truly increase a sense of security and provide tools that can save health and even lives.
We are pleased to engage in activities for older people, supporting initiatives that strengthen their awareness, independence and sense of agency.
